Like many writers, I tried to clear entire calendar days to work on my thesis, thinking I could knock off ten or twenty pages at once.

I quickly learned the beauty of this method. First, writing a page a day takes almost no time and it's easy to squeeze in on most days. It's so painless, in fact, that after a few weeks, I was amazed at how much I had actually accomplished.

Second, writing my page every day became a habit. It's like training yourself to go to the gym three days a week -- after a while you don't your day is complete until after you've done it.

And third, even if I missed a few days, I saw results. I'm no angel.
